Gambling backgammon can be enjoyable, especially if you understand how to succeed by playing excellently. But sometimes a pointer or two can help you even more and develop you into a more accomplished player.
One of the greatest strategies to succeed is to lock your opponent in. It will prevent them from moving their pieces from your home board. This has to be completed early in the match to keep your competitors two checkers in your home board. So you need to move your checkers to points seven, five, and 4 as quickly as as you can and even two and 3 if achievable. Maintain your point of 6 with the six pieces as it is. This will make sure that your competitor can’t get out of your home board and aid your odds of blocking them in to come out on top.
By locking your competitor in, they will be hoping for double 6’s when all other options have been made to get those 2 pieces from your home board. If doubles are not rolled, your challenger will be compelled to move 1 piece at a time, as long as they get a 6 or greater, and leave one piece behind and vulnerable. Of course in the process of moving your own checkers, ensure you do not leave 1 by itself where your opposition can send you off the board to make your way through their home board.
When you’re not sure what to do, hit. This can assist you in winning mainly because as soon as your challenger is hit, that piece is the checker they have to move prior to doing anything else on the board. So if you hit them several times, they’ll have to return numerous checkers back on the board and get past your pieces to succeed. Make sure you don’t hit where it will make you vulnerable to being hit yourself. Except of course when will be advantageous to you, like early in the game when your opposition will not have you barricaded in.
Hitting when you have a barricade started can also be good due to the fact that as soon as you get a few spots blocked, your opposition will have a harder time getting their pieces from your home board and defeating you. It’s even possible to hit them several times and get your lock setup. That way you can barricade them from re-entering the game board and even being offered an opportunity at crushing you.
These two tricks are not the only tactic to win, but they’re good ideas for amateurs to become more skillfull players. So when you conquer these, being victorious most of the time will not seem to be such a demanding thing to do.
