As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game technique utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
