The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2

As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is generally used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
