As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to shift your chips safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift his checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan uses seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
