The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part 1

[ English ]

The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and get those pieces off the game board quicker than your competitor who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. How far you can shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your pieces are decided on by your overall playing tactics. Enthusiasts use differing tactics in the different parts of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The aim of the Running Game technique is to lure all your pieces into your home board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This technique concentrates on the pace of advancing your checkers with little or no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The best time to employ this plan is when you believe you can move your own chips faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s pieces; or 3) your opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The main goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to block your competitor’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers rapidly. Once you’ve established the blockade for the competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can shift your other chips swiftly from the game board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to extract and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when your opponent utilizes the same blocking strategy.
