As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Strategy
The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
